Up Country Centres

The Department organises tutorials and student support activities on and off campus at various study centres where study groups meet. The centres have resources and can accommodate several functions ranging from teaching through repositories of study materials to ICT access and training.  Each centre has a centre co-odinator to oversees the centre functions.

The following services are provided by the centres:

  • hosting group face to face sessions
  • library facilities
  • ICT and internet facilities
  • assignment depositing 
  • guidance and counseling

In addition to working as centres for teaching ICT practicals to external students, the centres also offer private ICT training to non-external students, non-students and the general public in the following computer modules: see Computer packages.

The centres are located in Kampala, Kabale, Gulu, Jinja, Mbale, Arua, Hoima, Fort portal (Kabarole) and Lira at the following addresses

  • Kabale (Stadium Road Plot 2, Opposite Garage Street Aga Khan Building)
  • Gulu (Gulu Public Library)
  • Jinja (Opposite Jinja Senior Secondary School Library)
  • Mbale (MIACE Building, Plot 45, Republic Street Opposite The public library on Kitutu House)
  • Arua
  • Hoima - Hoima District Teacher Resource Centre building
  • Fort portal (Kabarole) Ruhandika Street, Kabarole Public Library Box 789, Fort portal
  • Lira– (Lira Town Primary School -  Former Headmaster’s Office)

The Department also makes materials available to students who may want to take the locally published materials permanently.
