How to calculate your CGPA

CGPA = Total Weighted Score (TWS)

              Total Credit Units (TCU)

Where

TWS = (Credit Units (CU) x Grade Point (GP) for a course) + (CU1 x GP1) + (CU2 x GP2) + ....

Each course has a number of Credit Units say 2 or 3 or 4. Each Credit Unit is equal to 15 lecture hours or 30 practical hours.

The Grade Point (GP) for course scores are designated as follows:

                            SCORE                                  GRADE POINT (GP)

                            80 – 100                                              5.00

                            75 – 79                                                4.50

                            70 – 74                                                4.00

                            65 – 69                                                3.50

                            60 – 64                                                3.00

                            55 – 59                                                2.50

                            50 – 54                                                2.00

                            45 – 49                                                1.50

                            40 – 44                                                1.00

                            35 – 39                                                0.50

                            00 – 34                                                0.00

The following example illustrates how one can calculate their Grade Point Average (GPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
