Who Qualifies?

The Department of Open & Distance Learning (DODL) targets the following groups of people:

Recent "A" levels school leavers who need in service upgrading and bridging course to enable them obtain higher qualificationsFormer University students who withdrew for non-academic reasons (e.g domestic problems, ill health, etc.); and
University students who would like to change professions.

The Bachelor of Education Programme is specifically designed for Grade V teachers and holders of Diplomas in other equivalent relevant professions.

What are the admission requirements for the Bachelor of Commerce degree Programme?
Two (2) principle passes at "A" level in Economics and Mathematics
Or (1) principle pass in either Economics or Mathematics and subsidiary pass in the other.
Or Uganda Diploma in Business Studies
Or a Uganda Higher Diploma in Marketing or ACCA, CPA, ICSA, Dip. in cooparatives
Or a University degree with O'level Mathematics,
Or a pass in the Makerere University Mature Age Entry examinations.

What are the Admission requirements for the Bachelor of Education degree Programme?
An applicant for the Makerere Bachelor of Education External degree Programme should have:Grade V Diploma in Education or its equivalent from a recognised institute.A minimum of two years post Diploma exprience in teaching

What are the Admission requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree Programme?
Direct Entry: At least two (2) principal passes in science subjects at Advanced Level. Essential and relevant subjects will be those of Science Programme in Makerere UniversityMature Age Scheme:
The applicant must pass the Mature Age University Examinations in science subjects.

Diploma Holders: Holders of a diploma in science based disciplines e.g Diploma in: Science Education, Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, Vetirinary, Wildlife, Public Health or professionals from recognised institutions may be admitted to the programme. A candidate must have obtained a second class and above diploma or its equivalent.
